Among the serene landscapes and medieval architecture of Assisi, the Great Basilicas of Italy Festival was truly an unforgettable musical experience. The awe-inspiring Basilica of St. Francis, built in 1228, served as the centerpiece of the event, offering a transcendent setting for the festival choir, conducted by Dr. Gene Peterson and composer-in-residence Elaine Hagenberg. Assisi, a sanctuary of faith, culture, and timeless beauty, continues to be deeply inspired by the life of St. Francis, a symbol of humility and peace, fostering a unique connection between the past and present.
