Text by William Blake

Published by Elaine Hagenberg Music.

This fiery setting of William Blake’s "The Tyger" is sure to be a thrilling piece for your SA choir! Energetic mixed meter combined with an active piano accompaniment create exciting moments to hear the tiger growl and pounce. Consider programming as a companion piece with Elaine’s setting of Blake’s “The Lamb."

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

 In what distant deeps or skies.
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?

 What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp,
Dare its deadly terrors clasp!
